Inevitable City second phase

Thursday 19th March 2009.

After the fortresses fell to eager Order hands, the bloodshed continued in the Inevitable City.
Order prevailed and the assault moved to the second stage of Pillaging.

Conscientious carnage in the Inevitable City.

Sunday 8th February 2009.

Our latest visit to the Inevitable City turned out to be interesting and loads more fun than previous times.

Boss, Nagarythe Corps and Ard az Nailz kept fighting us the whole evening. Both sides had their victories and defeats, but in general we had an awesome assault.

The resulting Invader treasure feels truely deserved and is appreciated.

Order strikes again

Sunday, 1st of February, the forces of Order assaulted the Inevitable City again.

This time, the fortresses were dealt with swiftly.
However, inside Inevitable City more opposition and some intense fights were to be found.

EU First: Bad Karma and Friends Assault the Inevitable City!

Sunday, 18th January, Order assaulted the Inevitable City.

We rolled our way through Empire and Elfland and took two fortresses in a decent amount of time.

Unfortunately Inevitable City itself was pretty fucking lackluster and a bit of a waste for endgame content; the PQ was an avoid farmfest, the scenario was too big and allowed too many people (thus increasing the ratio of random noobs to decent players) to be good.

Basically, stage 1 of the takeover of the zone is multiple instances of a single, large public quest, involving killing low 30s NPCs, picking up items, and holding two objectives. The idea is that both sides have the same thing to do, and 48 players of each side PvP whilst trying to do this. Unfortunately, since you can switch instances, it is easy to avoid the enemy altogether and farm the PQ for Invader loot. And so, as with the rest of this game, that’s what most people did; avoided the PvP and farmed gear. Here’s hoping that Mythic get round to making this endgame experience a lot more PvP focused and a lot more interesting. It’s a bad idea poorly implemented, but we’ve stuck with this game through class imbalance, unlockable zones, and much more, so we’ll stick with it now and see how it goes - in the meantime, we’ll just keep on doing what we do best and raping people in PvP :)

Anyway, here’s a great video, frapsed by Delerium and edited by Azmodania, of what the inside of IC looks like.

RvR Videos: Praag/Chaos Wastes/The Maw

Wednesday, 14th January, Order took the Fell Landing fortress including many doors.

Then we aimed for The Maw fortress, but it didn’t fall this time.

The Day Eltharion Stood Still

Thursday, the 1st of January, Altdorf was buzzing.
Something big was going to happen, but not many knew the exact details.

Members of various guilds felt their leaders were preparing and scheming.
Most continued their normal lives and wondered if anything would ever change.

Sunday morning, 11 January, a battle objective in Reikland was taken by Order.

Something was different.
This time, people were not staring at the banner with dull eyes.
Statistics and rankings were forgotten.

Another battle objective was taken, a few seconds later, by a different group.
Then another. And some keeps.

Well trained homing pigeons for communication enabled Order to work in parallel and progress quickly.

High Pass and Talabecland were invaded after that to complete the strike at chaos.

Some complaints were filed by humanitarians about helpless toddlers being treated unfairly.

Naturally we took these very seriously and sat down to listen to the objections.
The accusations were dragged on and on and our feet were about to freeze off.
So we did the healthy thing: get up and get the bloodstream flowing again.
We took the final battle objectives in the Lands of Chaos a tad later than scheduled.

All nice, but still not enough for total domination.
We gathered at our favourite warcamp and practised skirmishing.

This took even more time than the discussions with those that got upset about unfair treatment.
We mixed in some scenarios; Death Company and Death Watch went back to High Pass to deal with it in a less subtle way.
They smashed in skulls and scared them enough to make all flee from their lands. Our lands.

The warfront shifted to Praag, but not for long.

Atmospheric Chaos Wastes were skimmed.

And then we were back where we started months ago: The Maw.

All participating guilds gathered: Pandemonium, Inquisitors, Exploding Labrats, The Blackhand Order, Death Company, Death Watch, Storm Hammer Collective and of course Bad Karma.

Fighting was tough, many mistakes were made, lord moved in mysterious ways and Destruction was everywhere.

At last we were driven down the stairs again and learnt our place in the Chaos Lands.
For now.

Since elves are more frail, and orcs are too scary, we fled to Dragonwake and Caledor.

Dragonwake and Caledor were taken swiftly.

On the way to the fort we sacrificed all trees we could find to the Door God.
The Door God moves in mysterious ways and we found Fell Landing devoid of all wood.

Fortress hospitality combined with the blockade of fresh Destruction troops enabled us to rush towards the terrified lord. He tried a last resort: the ritual dance for the Door God.
Whilst this did not get him any keep defense improvements, it did make him very difficult to hit.
He went to all the wrong places according to our tacticians.

The lord found himself strengthened by his refueled religion and slaughtered us all.

We went back in, The Blackhand Order got the attention of the lord and entertained him nicely.
Bad pollen flew into the keep through the open doorways, the master entertainer sneezed and the lord was not amused anymore.

Perseverance is good, so we kept on fighting.
Went back in again, Bad Karma cleaned and claimed the top floor. The Blackhand Order tanked the lord perfectly. Order all over the keep fought hard against masses of Destruction.

Destruction was approaching though, so Bad Karma went downstairs to kill them all. The Order went out to kill the lord.
More and more destruction troops showed up, and had great fights, but the lord was beyond saving now.

We killed, maimed, plundered and took all we could carry from the fortress. Congratulations to our own Rickdick on Conqueror Shoulders and Delerium on Conqueror Belt!

Thanks to everybody participating in this great adventure.
